Mrs. Purchase's First Grade Classroom

Welcome to 1st Grade!

            I am so excited to begin the new school year with you!  This is my first year of teaching 1st grade and I have so many new and exciting things you will be learning this year! This website will be a place where you can keep track of our classroom activities throughout the year.  I can't wait to spend this year learning and growing with your child.  Thank you for sharing them with me!

 

 

 

 

Teaching Philosophy 

 

  I believe in a classroom environment that is safe, fun, and engaging for every student.  It is important to me that all students feel safe and comfortable in the classroom so they can have the best learning experience possible.  In my classroom rules and expectations will always be consistent and clear.  I believe in students learning as individuals and also working as a team.  Every student learns differently and I want to accommodate their learning styles.

Classroom Expectations

- We will arrive in the classroom well rested and ready to learn.

- We will be responsible.

- We will be respectful. 

- We will be safe.

- We will follow directions and listen to the teachers. 

- We will try our best in everything we do.

- We will be a good "digital citizen" on the computers and Internet.  

- We will have FUN!!!!

 

 

 

 Rules/Consequences/Rewards

Rules:

1. LISTENING BODIES- I WILL LISTEN AND FOLLOW DIRECTIONS

  
2. RAISED HANDS - I WILL RAISE MY HAND TO SHARE AND ASK QUESTIONS  
3. QUIET VOICE- I WILL USE MY INSIDE VOICE   

4. WALKING FEET- I WILL WALK IN THE CLASSROOM AND HALLWAYS TO BE SAFE

  

CONSEQUENCES

In my classroom I implement the PBIS behavior management. If a student isn't following class expectations or rules then these steps will be taken as follows: 1. Re-direct students behavior

         2. Face to face conference with the student

         3. Change seating arrangment

         4. Contact parents/guardians by phone or email

         5. Referral to Principal

Rewards

When students are showing responsible behavior and doing the right things, I will be giving out "Purchase Dollars". These "Purchase Dollars" can buy things from the treasure box such as pencils, pens, erasers, candy, ect.  

 

Grades/Homework

    There will be no homework in 1st grade.  All work will be done while at school.  The only homework they will have is a reading log that will need to be signed every night in their binder.  Students will be graded on their in class work and quizzes.  

 

Parent Communication

There will be a parent binder that is sent home with your child everyday.  I will have a place for their reading log, papers to be signed, and a communication page for you and I.  I will post notes on the communication page and if you have any questions or concerns feel free to write on there as well.  I am available by email everyday from 8am to 4pm.  You can also call me at the school and if I am unable to answer you can leave a message.  I will return your call as soon as I can.
